Gavin Juckette is currently starring as Peter in Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre's magical production of the classic show, PETER PAN. The theatre is located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and is showing now through August 12, 2017. I had the opportunity to interview Gavin.

Christy Brooks: What enticed you about playing PETER PAN?

Gavin Juckette: Playing Peter Pan has always been a dream of mine since I started doing theatre. I think we all have had moments in life where growing up has felt like a little too much to handle. Playing Peter lets me live in that carefree adventure every show!

Christy Brooks: What school did you attend? Did you receive a BFA in Musical Theatre or something else?

Gavin Juckette: I attended Missouri State University and received my BFA in Musical Theatre.

Christy Brooks: When did you know that performing was something in wanted to do for a living?

Gavin Juckette: I have been performing since before I can remember. My poor parents endured years of me running around the house singing songs I either made up or heard on the radio. The moment I remember deciding I would sing forever, no matter what, was when my grandpa Jim knelt down to me and said "someday you're going to be a star." I'll never forget that day.

Christy Brooks: What a beautiful memory. Did you ever consider doing anything other than theatre?

Gavin Juckette: I always knew music would be a part of my life whether it would be writing, performing or teaching. If I were ever to stop performing, I'd really like to write and teach music and acting, at the college level.

Christy Brooks: What do you prefer to do when you are not working?

Gavin Juckette: When I'm not working I love playing soccer and other various sports. Otherwise a good movie and a big bucket of popcorn (with extra butter) is my go-to activity.

Christy Brooks: If you could share the stage with anyone, past or present, who would it be and why?

Gavin Juckette: If I could share the stage with anybody I would want to perform with Robin Williams. His presence on camera is so interesting; I'd love to see how he would bring a character to life.

Christy Brooks: Is there a particular role that you have always wanted to play but haven't yet?

Gavin Juckette: A dream role of mine would be Frankie Valli in JERSEY BOYS.

Christy Brooks: Do you prefer comedic or dramatic acting?

Gavin Juckette: I really don't have a preference between comedic and dramatic acting. I think they both have a place within each other and the best performances have a healthy mix of both.

Christy Brooks: What is the most complex character you have played and why?

Gavin Juckette: The most complex character I've played would have to be this one. But prior to this I'll go with Tobias Ragg in my college's production of Sweeney Todd.

PETER PAN is running through August 12, 2017, at DUTCH APPLE DINNER THEATRE. Tickets can be purchased by calling 717-898-1900, or by visiting their website at: www.dutchapple.com
