Blackfriars Theatre Presents SANTALAND DIARIES, 12/17-23

By:

Blackfriars Theatre, a not-for-profit mid -sized professional theatre on Rochester's "Theatre Row" is pleased  to announce the opening of "The Santaland Diaries," a comedy by nationally acclaimed author David Sedaris (adapted for the stage by Joe Mantello), returning to the Blackfriars stage by popular demand.

A delightfully thorny tale of working as Yuletide elf at Macy's.  This holiday merriment by NPR favorite and best selling author David Sedaris tells of a slackers life as he takes out his frustrations on children and parents alike.  The piece ends with yet another "Santa" being ushered to the throne, but unlike the lecherous or drunken others who have taken the seat, this one genuinely seems to care about the children, startling our hero into an uncharacteristic moment of holiday cheer.  Hysterical satirical wit and good will prevail.  (Note: This show contains adult language and situations. Parents are strongly cautioned against bringing young children to this production.)

"THE SANTALAND DIARIES" is directed and designed by John Haldoupis. Sound design is by Ron Heerkins Jr., and lighting design is by Ted Plant.

"THE SANTALAND DIARIES" stars David Jason Kyle, and will be presented at Blackfriars Theatre on Friday, December 17 at 8 pm, Saturday, December 18, and 18 at 8 pm, Sunday, December 19 at 2 pm, and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, December 21, 22, 23 at 7:30 pm.
