About this camp
Child's Play NY, founded in 2009, is an award-winning theatre education company offering classes, camps, parties and in-school residencies in the New York metro area. Its Brooklyn summer camps serve students entering PreK through 8th grade and meet in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn Heights and Fort Greene. Every week has a new theme, and camps are led by professional actors trained in early childhood education, with a 1:4 teacher-to-camper ratio. The Players Series for PreK-1st grade explores themes through improvisation, dance and music, culminating in an original film. The Showmakers Series for 2nd-5th grades focuses on original story creation and scripted scene study, and the Acting Ensemble for 6th-8th grades works on short plays and specialized acting technique. Grades 2 and up perform for families on the last day, and sibling discounts and need-based scholarships are available.
Weekly themed sessions for rising PreK-8th grade. Players Series (PreK-1st), Showmakers Series (2nd-5th) and Acting Ensemble (6th-8th), plus camps at Berkeley Carroll (K-3rd) and Carroll Kids PS58 (PreK-5th). Locations: Cobble Hill Ballet and PS58 in Carroll Gardens, First Unitarian Church in Brooklyn Heights, South Oxford Space in Fort Greene. Sessions capped at about 14-16 campers with a 1:4 teacher ratio.
