The Green Room 42 Presents Mykal Kilgore

Broadway's newest intimate concert venue - has announced the solo debut of Mykal Kilgore, the celebrated vocalist from The Wiz Live! on NBC TV, Postmodern Jukebox, Motown on Broadway and more, for a two night concert engagement Friday, March 9 at 9:30 PM and Saturday, March 10 at 7:00 PM. These shows will feature original music from Mykal's upcoming album and covers of some of music's most heralded pop favorites with a Kilgore twist. After performances for "The View," the Mayor of New York, and Brooklyn Nets, these live intimate shows powerfully return Kilgore to the concert stage.

MYKAL KILGORE became a national viral sensation when his "Reclaiming My Time - Gospel Remix" was featured on "The View," National Public Radio and outlets around the world. His R&B, jazz and pop performances with Postmodern Jukebox have garnered millions of hits on YouTube. Kilgore was most recently seen on Broadway in Motown the Musical. Other theater credits include The Wiz Live! (NBC-TV) Hair (Broadway), Freckleface Strawberry (Off-Broadway), The Book of Mormon (First National Tour) and Marley (World Premiere). Mykal has performed to sold-out audiences at Joe's Pub, Roseland Ballroom, Birdland, The Laurie Beechman Theatre, and The Kennedy Center. He has been featured on the album #LoVE by Lyons and Pakchar, "Living in A Dark World" by Slow Knights, Scott Alan Live and on "Make Me Believe in Hope" by Bright Light Bright Light. Kilgore is a classical music graduate from Florida State University.

MYKAL KILGORE will debut at The Green Room 42 (570 Tenth Avenue at 42nd Street, on the 4th Floor of Yotel) on Friday, March 9 at 9:30 PM and Saturday, March 10 at 7:oo PM. Tickets range from $15 to $35. There is no food and drink minimum. For tickets, please visit

THE GREEN ROOM 42 recently celebrated its year anniversary as the theater district's premiere destination for live music and events. The 140-seat space lets audiences experience shows up close and personal. During the shows, guests can enjoy Mediterranean-inspired dishes alongside signature cocktails, craft beer and wine with no food/drink minimum. The Tony Award nominated star of Broadway's Miss Saigon bring back her show which has been extended regularly since it first debuted in the fall of 2017. The evening takes the audience through an evening of pop ballads, jazz standards and musical theater favorites, including songs made famous by Amy Winehouse and Frank Sinatra. In this intimate evening of music with a wonderfully colorful set list, Eva sings from her heart and reveals a side of her story you've never heard.

This musical theatre actress has managed to balance married life in the country and a hectic city schedule, while pursuing that elusive first Broadway Show. Jen has earned her chevrons with productions of Les Miserables, Evita, Ruthless!, Into the Woods, Fiddler on the Roof, among them, and has cut her cabaret teeth on previous club appearances at Joe's Pub and Feinstein's/54Below. She's now bringing her latest show with fresh material and continued "Tales of Adventure" to The Green Room 42. Her show is directed by longtime pal Richard Jay-Alexander. Joseph Thalken is Jen's Musical Director/Arranger/Accompanist and leads the hot band featuring Perry Cavari and Dick Sarpola.


"The Soul Session"

Kyle Taylor Parker, known for his work on Broadway in the original casts of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Kinky Boots, and for headlining the first national tour of Kinky Boots, Parker makes his Green Room 42 debut in "The Soul Session," an evening of show tunes and pop standards reimagined into soul-stirring arrangements. The show will feature music from Hairspray, West Side Story, The Color Purple and more. The evening is a celebration of soul and all things Broadway. Directed by Nathan Peck with Music direction by Joshua Stephen Kartes.

Sumayya Ali, featured in the original Broadway cast of Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812, Spike Lee's Red Hook Summer, and the Broadway revival of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess makes her Green Room 42 debut in "Heavy is The Head." Join Sumayya in this spell binding evening as she explores exoteric and esoteric identity and purpose through her original compositions as well as juxtaposing electronica, classical and rock/soul into some favorite Broadway, jazz and pop standards. Tony Award winner Frances Ruffelle is back in town with her stunning solo performance, an intimate evening of song that whispers seductive secrets, lays bare the naked truth and explodes with the one of a kind bottle rocket charisma that's kept "Frankie's" ardent fans coming back for more since she created the iconic role of Eponine in Les Miserables and turned "On My Own" into one of Broadway's most beloved standards. This evening is a wildly entertaining ride straight through the core of the most tender heart, fiery passion and loose comic confidence of a seasoned performer at the height of her game. Frankie has made five solo albums and has performed countless West End shows including her most recent critically acclaimed performance as Queenie in the U.K. Premiere of Michael LaChiusa's infamous The Wild Party. The show is co-created by Frances Ruffelle and Gwyneth Herbert, with Musical arrangements by Gwyneth Herbert with additional arrangements by Jude Obermuller and David Barber.

Alan Jay Lerner and Charles Strouse's short-lived musical Dance A Little Closer, inspired by Robert E. Sherwood's Idiot's Delight, is approaching its 35th anniversary. Featuring an outstanding score by the composer of Annie, Bye Bye Birdie, Rags and more, Dance A Little Closer struggled to find its footwork and closed on its opening night. In this abridged version highlighting the show's sweeping score, audiences will have the rare opportunity to turn back the clocks and relive this little-known musical. The concert will star Drama Desk Award-winner Ed Dixon (Georgie, Sunday In The Park With George, Les Miserables and more) in the role originated by his lifelong friend and colleague George Rose. The evening is presented by the team behind the popular Second Act Series, Steven Carl McCasland and James Horan, who brought Onward Victoria, Charlie and Algernon, 70, Girls, 70, Nick & Nora, Shelter starring Jon Cryer, Charlotte Sweet, Bring Back Birdie, Henry, Sweet Henry, and Eating Raoul back to New York.

As Varla Jean, Jeffery Roberson has filled cabarets and concert halls across the world including the Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall, the New York Public Theater, London's Soho Theatre, LA's Renberg Theatre, and countless theatres in the gay sea-side village of Provincetown. Jeffery wrote and starred in the short Improve Your History with Varla Jean: Stonewall, for the launch of the MTV's television network Logo and was also seen in their "One Night Standup: Dragtastic" special. Jeffery has starred as Varla in numerous TV and stage roles as well, with highlights that include "Project Runway," "Ugly Betty," and the film Girls Will be Girls. Paying tribute to the inspiring women who have inspired her to think about becoming inspirational, has teamed up with Varla Jean Merman to bring "Wonder Merman" to NYC for this special one night only show.
