RSVP (Real Sexy Variety Party) Returns to Arlo NoMad

GrumpyFILMS & PRODUCTIONS today announced the start of a monthly residency for their new live variety show. "RSVP", an acronym for Real Sexy Variety Party, is an offshoot of the producers' very successful Brooklyn Loft Party and it has found a home at Arlo NoMad. Four performances this March 9th and 10th kick off a series of monthly 90-minute editions. RSVP is taking over the hotel's second floor Studios, and limiting each performance to only 40 guests, allowing the audience to get up close to the artists.

"The first RSVP weekend in February was such a resounding success that there was no hesitation for us when the folks at Arlo wanted to make it a recurring series", says producer Jason Jude Hill. "Between the longer sets that allowed our guests to really connect with the artists, to the cozy, fabulous studios at Arlo, to being taken care of by the great staff at Massoni, our guests walked away feeling like they'd just seen a program of exciting performances in their friend's apartment."

"The prospect of having a monthly variety bill to book is an absolute luxury," adds producer Daniel Sears, "because it allows us the opportunity to dig deep into the vibrant community of artists in NYC and really craft exciting and engaging variety programs that accurately represent the breadth of talent, styles, and disciplines that the city has to offer. Each edition will feature a unique program of talent presided over by a different host. The possibilities are enthralling."

The March edition will be hosted by Dale Seever (as portrayed by James Bewley), a favorite of the downtown variety show scene, and host of the long-running podcast "Deep Night with Dale". Dale will guide the audience through a program featuring a tap dance busker duo and a cantankerous ventriloquist, in addition to music, comedy, magic, burlesque, prizes, and more.

Carla Rhodes (Cantankerous Ventriloquist)
Mediocre Flow (Percussive Tap Busker)

GrumpyFILMS is a production and development company centered in Brooklyn, NY and dedicated to creating content made for our digital age, but still with a strong influence from the proven styles of comedy that have come before. In 2009, they began their successful series of 100+ comedy videos called "Short Shorts" which has gained them a die-hard fan base and many successful partnerships. The Huffington Post even named the series one of "the best gay webseries you've never heard of."

In 2016, as part of their 10th Anniversary, they formed GrumpyProductions, which focuses on live events and performances including their modern variety experience, Brooklyn Loft Party. Regardless of the medium, they continue to combine a Yankee sensibility with a Midwestern "can-do" ethos when tackling any endeavor. Plus, they look good in tuxes and can be rented out for a nominal fee.
