Peaches and Crime, the premiere prohibition-era themed cabaret act, has been busy bringing their unique brand of music and theatricality to audiences all over New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania for the last several years. On Saturday, 5 August 2017, they are excited to return - FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY! - to the Metropolitan Room, 34 W 22nd St New York, NY 10010 at 7:00pm.
The group pens all their own music in the style of early jazz, blues and swing in an effort to recreate the glamorous bygone era, with costumes and presentation to boot! The kicker? Most of their songs are about crime. Particularly, murder.
"We like to think we're bringing a little poison to the Big Apple", interjects Angela "Angie Diamond" Schwartz, Daniel's wife, lead vocalist and head songwriter for the group. "The subject of most of our songs tells the tale of a damsel in distress turned anti-heroine, as demonstrated best in our number He Done Me Wrong, I Did Him In, or Mrs. Colt Revolver, which romanticizes the lifestyle of a black widow"
