Our Lady J Returns To NYC; 'Gospel for the Godless: A Benefit Concert' 9/27

By:

You may have heard the rumors that NYC's queen of downtown gospel has relocated to the West Coast... and those rumors are quite true! In an effort to go stealth, Our Lady J now lives in the only place in the world where everyone looks like a post-op transexual: Hollywood.

But in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS, she returns to New York City for TWO VERY SPECIAL CONCERTS!

GOSPEL FOR THE GODLESS: A BENEFIT CONCERT

THE HOWL FESTIVAL presents this very special Benefit Concert for the HOWL EMERGENCY LIFE PROJECT (H.O.W.L.), a project that was created to provide emergency financial assistance and social service support to artists who have participated in the annual Howl Festival or who make their careers in New York City's East Village and Lower East Side arts community and whose work challenges the traditional boundaries of dance, theatre, music, multimedia and the spoken word.

Services include counseling and referrals for personal, family or work-related problems. Linkage to community resources for such needs as medical care, legal services, public benefits or elder care. Workshops are offered on a variety of topics and include: finding affordable housing, financial education as well as health insurance options. All door proceeds to benefit The Actors Fund for HOWL! THE GOSPEL ELECTRIC: A New Beginning

After a summer of touring Europe and recording her first studio album on the West Coast, Our Lady J is bringing back a whole new sound to New York City, blasting her classical and gospel roots into the future by fusing electro/pop with the unorthodox uplifting soul-shaking sound she's been known for.

Teaming up with The Train-To-Kill Gospel Choir, this evening will feature an intimate preview of her in-progress album, "The Gospel Electric," along with highlights from her traditional "Gospel For The Godless" concerts. This concert marks Our Lady J's first return to The Wild Project since her wildly successful "Boob-Aid" benefit concerts last December (of which you'll be privy to see the results!).

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th @ 8pm
$10
The Wild Project, 195 East 3rd Street
800-838-3006
