Mac Award Nominated The Jazz Bastards Announce Residency At Pangea

The Jazz Bastards, nominated for a MAC Award in the duo and group category, announce their residency at Pangea, hailed by The New York Times as the alternative Cafe Carlisle. Aldo Perez and his co conspirators serve up standards bebop style with originals and vaudeville turns now at their monthly residency at Pangea, the last Friday of every month at 9:30pm, currently through June 28th with possible extension. Look out for special guests each month!

"A rambunctious set unfolds and in the midst of the neo-vaudeville kitsch you realize these people can really play...Their originals are mixed with such standards as "Pennies from Heaven", "I Get a Kick Out of You", and "That Old Black Magic" -but with the occasional tap dance, fights between the lead singers, and gratuitous pan-pipe solo, there's nothing standard about them" - Penelope Thomas, Bistro Awards

The Jazz Bastards are a NYC quintet featuring Matt Kanelos, Aldo Perez, Jenny Lee Mitchell, Nick Parker and Glen Heroy. The use of toys, costume, spoons, tap and electronics mix with the 4 Jazz Bastard vocalists for a weird yet reverent cocktail. Jazz Bastards presents standards and original jazz compositions with a vaudeville edge. Instrumentation: Drums, guitar, keyboards, clarinet, spoons and vocals.
