Singer Blake Whyte will make his headlining debut at Joe's Pub on August 18, 2013.

Whyte also recently shared some news about a new video he'll be premiering at the Joe's Pub show:

"I will be premiering an exciting new music video at Joe's Pub with a cast that features former cast mate from Mamma Mia!, Newsies' own, John Dossett," he said.

Other Broadway performers featured in the video are: Felicity Claire, Allyson Carr, Sydni Beaudoin, of Mamma Mia! and Deanna Aguinaga of West Side Story, Chorus Line and Mamma Mia!

Original choreography in the video is by Albert Guerzon of Ghost and currently Mamma Mia! The video is directed and shot by Troy Mercury.

Blake will be backed up by his six piece band at Joe's Pub of Paul Wyatt, Alex Wyatt, Curtis Stewart, Amanda Gookin, Benjamin Gallina and Dillon Kondor.

With a pop/soul sound that crackles with energy, Whyte evokes a range of artists, from George Michael to Maroon 5 to Elton John. Listen to streaming samples here: https://soundcloud.com/blake-whyte/sets/blake-whyte-debut-album.

Blake, normally an ensemble player in Mamma Mia, takes over the lead for four shows next week. He comments: "Normally I am onstage every night in Mamma Mia playing a variety of different characters -- A Greek Fisherman I have named "Sven", A Fraternity Brother I have named "Von" of the groom to be "Sky" in the story. When I'm onstage as a ensemble member it's really about being parts of the machinery, blending into to what is happening onstage, and a lot of dancing and singing, It's fun and exhausting."

He continued: "August 12, 13, and 14, for four shows, I will be playing the role of 'Sky' in Mamma Mia. This is designated as a Principle Role, as the roles I usually play are designated as Ensemble. He is the groom to be of 'Sophie' in the show, who is about to get married to 'Sky' but doesn't know who her father is, I understudy, or 'cover', 'Sky' and go on for the role when the actor playing the role get's sick or injured."

"It's an exciting week because it gives everyone an opportunity to really see me as an actor onstage at the start of the week and at the end of the week a bona fide Composer/Lyricist at Joe's Pub with a five piece band!" he added.
