Composer, Pianist, Poet, JazzSoetrist, Author, Music Publisher and Educator: Aziza Miller

Graduate of The Manhattan School of Music

Master's Degree in Music Education and a Bachelor degree in Theory

Taught in the nyc public schools system for approximately 16 years. Alicia Keys was my music student for 3 years at the professional performing arts school. Another one of my former students, by the name of Marty Thomas, sang an original song of mine called The Time Is Now in 1992 on Ed McMahon's Star Search junior division and won against a young and talented Britney Spears who sang Love Can Build a Bridge.

I Was one of 50 teachers in the USA to receive the Presidential Scholar Distinguished Teacher Award in 1997 from President Bill Clinton in Washington, DC.

I joined Natalie Cole in 1975 and became her pianist and musical director for 5 years. During that time period I composed the melody and music for the platinum selling song called La Costa. Ms. Cole penned the lyrics to it and recorded it on her Thankful album. It has been re-recorded by various artists both known and unknown such as jazz pianists Ahmad Jamal, Jorge Dalto and guitarist Phil Upchurch to name a few and Aziza( formerly known as Linda Williams) recorded it on her current Jazzsoetry vol.1 cd which is available at www.cdbaby.com/azizajazz, Napster, rhapsody and itunes.

Aziza collaborated with Ahmad Jamal by writing lyrics to the following recorded compositions, which are very popular in France and Europe. They are Whisperings( sung by the late O.C. Smith), My Latin ( sung by Aziza), It's only a flower, and Picture Perfect.

Aziza appeared in Nov. 2007 on GMA with her former student Alicia Keys and on Oprah's Big Give in 2009 with Natalie Cole at Carnegie Hall. Aziza was Shelton Becton's designated keyboard sub in Color Purple.

Aziza has performed at LandMark Hall in Yokohama, Japan, at the Ucclub in Moscow, at Stirling Castle in Scotland and the plymouth jazz Festival in Tobego Bay with Natalie Cole, at the Barbados Jazz festival with Arturo Tappin, at the Jazz Cafe in London with Donald Blackman, at the Comedy Store with Whoopi Goldberg and in Boston at club 939, the Zinc Bar, Blues Alley supper club in DC, Ashford and Simpson's Sugar Bar, The Triad Theater, Society of Illustrators, etc... and continues to perform in and outside the USA with her JazzSoetry Quintet.
