Jonathan Whitton Brings BLACK SHEEP CARNIVAL to Don't Tell Mama Tonight

2013 BroadwayWorld Award Winner for Best Male Vocalist Jonathan Whitton (Bistro & MAC Award Winner, HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH) his returns with guitarist Aaron Jones for one night only at Don't Tell Mama. Following an acclaimed monthly residency at Don't Tell Mama from October 2012 - November 2013, BLACK SHEEP CARNIVAL returns to Don't Tell Mama tonight, March 13 @ 7:30PM. Tickets are $12 plus a two-drink minimum.

Celebrated for headlining both the Highline Ballroom & BB King Blues Club as Hedwig in HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, Jonathan Whitton follows up his award-winning 2007 NYC solo-concert debut in collaboration with indie-musician/guitarist Aaron Jones. Times Square Chronicle recently proclaimed Whitton, "a 21st Century troubadour." BLACK SHEEP CARNIVAL is billed as a "monthly evolving freak folk alt-cabaret" drawing on song selections from his critically acclaimed, sold-out 2012 concert series, THE FREE RESIDENCY.

Whitton has been seen recently in NYC productions of EVEN FOR ONE NIGHT (Dixon Place), RAZIA'S SHADOW (Joe's Pub), THE DISNEY DIARIES (dir. Michele Pawk, Laurie Beechman), SEPARATE: BATTLE SONGS OF YOUTH (Ars Nova), & THE YELLOW WOOD (dir. Brian Yorkey, New World Stages). Regionally, he has starred in productions of THE LAST FIVE YEARS, HEDWIG, CABARET, & SANTALAND DIARIES. He has also been seen onstage at such NYC venues as Joe's Pub, 54 Below, Ars Nova, Highline Ballroom, The Laurie Beechman Theatre, and Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall.

Musical selections for BLACK SHEEP CARNIVAL include songs from an eclectic group of contemporary musicians: Kate Bush, Michael Callen, Amy Correia, Kate McGarrigle, Patty Griffin, Sufjan Stevens, John Vanderslice, & Rufus Wainwright, amongst others.

NYU Musical Theatre Writing Program Graduate Aaron Jones serves as Music Director.

Backstage Magazine proclaims, "Whitton exudes talent and taste," and Cabaret Scenes heralds, "Whitton is built to last. He'll be around for the long run: performing, growing, daring."

BLACK SHEEP CARNIVAL returns Thursday, March 13 @ 7:30PM. Future dates through December 2013 to be announced. Don't Tell Mama is located at 343 W. 46th St. (btw 8th & 9th Avenues).
