Don't Tell Mama to Offer Evening of Villains 11/20
Legendary nighttime entertainment venue, Don't Tell Mama, will welcome back cabaret artist and actor, Alex Burnette to the main music room on Sunday, November 20th. After a series of themed holiday concerts with local singer-actors Kim Stevens and Kennedy Bastow, Burnette returns to the cabaret stage, solo, with a brand new show; Villains and Vamping.
After appearing in several NYC productions including the York Theatre Company's recent staged readings of Charles Strouse's Marty and Charlie and Algernon (dir. Barbara Siman), Burnette offers a unique evening of concert theatre that will "feature music from Disney and Broadway works focusing on the Villain of the story, questioning what makes a true villain and how we see ourselves in these colorful characters."
Accompanied by Music Director and Pianist, Quenton Ellis, Burnette will additionally be joined by several Musical Theatre students of Marymount Manhattan College, as well as returning longtime stage partner, Kennedy Bastow.
Alex Burnette's vibrant and spirited interpretations of the musical theatre and pop canon will reportedly lend its buoyant prowess to numbers from shows and films such as "Nightmare Before Christmas", "Annie", "The Little Mermaid", "Into the Woods", as well as the concert premiere of several pieces from the recent Broadway "American Psycho".
Burnette promises what he states will be "a nice escape from the holidays, and the election. And rising MTA fares."
