Broadway Meets Sketch Comedy with SHIZ at 54 Below

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents a monthly run of SHIZ beginning Friday, January 18th at 11:30 PM. Your favorite musical theater characters find themselves smack in the middle of sketches in this Broadway-meets-comedy mash-up show, written by UCB's finest and featuring actors from the casts of Wicked, Great Comet, Fun Home and more. Imagine if the Tonys were hijacked by SNL. SHIZ gives classic moments from musicals an irreverent mind of their own. Watch Elphaba and Javert get thrown unexpected curveballs and belt their way out. SHIZ is a love letter to Broadway with a few notes scribbled in the margins. No parody lyrics, only parody riffs.

SHIZ is conceived by comedian Matt Gehring (Set It Up, The Tick) and songwriter/performer Shaina Taub (Old Hats, Great Comet, Twelfth NIght at Shakespeare in the Park) and written by Gehring, Max Ash (UCB Maude Night) and rising comedy star Natalie Walker (Twitter: @nwalks). In addition to the writers, the cast features Larkin Bogan (Wicked) Joél Pérez (Fun Home), Liana Hunt (Newsies), Kuhoo Verma (The Big Sick), Heath Saunders (Great Comet), Kim Blanck, Preston Martin, Nicole Weiss and Fernando Contreras, with music direction by Myrna Conn (Pretty Woman).

This edition of SHIZ will also feature special guests Grace McLean (Great Comet, Lincoln Center American Songbook) and Michael Hartney (School of Rock).

SHIZ plays Feinstein's/54 Below (254 West 54th Street) on January 18th at 11:30 PM The cover charge starts at $20 and the food & beverage minimum is $20 or a 2 drink minimum.
