The Broadway at Birdland concert series is thrilled to announce that singer/songwriter Amanda McBroom ("The Rose") will make her Birdland debut with a concert celebration of her new CD, "Voices." The one-night-only event will take place on Monday, June 5 at 7pm.

Singer-songwriter and concert artist, Amanda McBroom has been called "...the greatest cabaret performer of her generation, an urban poet who writes like an angel and has a voice to match." She brings her new show, "Voices," to Birdland on June 5th for one show, celebrating the release of her new recording, "Voices," on Gecko Records. The title is based on one of McBroom's songs, "Voices That Come Through The Wall" (Amanda McBroom, GorDon Hunt, Rand Bishop). McBroom will be accompanied by her Musical Director and frequent writing partner, Michele Brourman, and The Amazing her Band East.

Most of the selections in the show are story songs of love and loss and laughter, some with both music and lyrics by McBroom and several with collaborators. In addition, there's music from composer Julie Gold, Tom Paxton and Livingston/Webster. McBroom has been composing music since her teens, and her songwriting and concert careers were launched by her Golden Globe winning song "The Rose" - the mega-hit recorded by Bette Midler for the 1979 film of the same name, about a Janis Joplin-esque character. Since then, McBroom has appeared all over the world in concert, and her music has been recorded for TV, films and by major recording artists including LeAnn Rimes, Betty Buckley, Barbara Cook and The Manhattan Transfer.
