According to Deadline.com, longtime LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN comedy act booker Eddie Brill has been released from his duties after comments he made in a recent New York Times interview.

In the interview, Brill discussed the reasons why he tended to book more male comics than female comics on the CBS late night show.  "...there are a lot less female comics who are authentic. I see a lot of female comics who to please an audience will act like men.” explained Brill.

CBS has not yet commented on the situation, but a source close to the LATE SHOW said that a new system of booking comedians would soon be in place where by "scouts" would comb comedy clubs and other performance venues looking for new talent. Potential acts would then be invited to perform before senior producers of the LATE SHOW who would then make final booking decisions.

The Times said that Brill would continue in his nightly position of 'warm-up" comedian for THE LATE SHOW.
