History Channel's hit mini-series The Bible received three Emmy nominations this morning, including Outstanding Miniseries or Movie, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing. The nominations were announced by this year's host Neil Patrick Harris and "Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul.

Mark Burnett, who executive produced the series along with Roma Downey told The Hollywood Reporter this morning, "What incredible news to wake up to, couldn't be happier." He added, "A lot of people said The Bible wouldn't do well on TV and wasn't expected to get nominated. Roma said from the beginning, 'I feel this is going to get nominated, I really feel that our academy will recognize the work.' Four years of work that went into making this as big as it was and we're grateful."

Added Downey, "We're thrilled that it can make those emotional connections and be seen for the quality miniseries that it is."

Burnett recently announced he is working on future Bible-themed programming and that a film version of the historic saga may be headed to a movie theater near you!
