After Olivia's shocking admission to the Press last week that she was, indeed, Fitzgerald Grant's mistress, we are privy to the chaotic, behind the scenes handling of such an admission. However, this time it is Olivia that needs to be handled and that is no easy task.

Seconds after Olivia's admission, Abby races to the live interview the Grants are about to begin with Noah Baker. As they are gushing about how happily married they still are, Abby gathers the Secret Service to come up with a security risk to shut the interview down. Noah is quick to realize what happened and isn't pleased. Abby guarantees him in one hour, a real interview with the first couple if he doesn't release the footage he had already. Mellie is infuriated and hires Cyrus as her Chief Advisor. He decides to negotiate some benefits for her, if she agrees to go on camera with Fitz and admit they are divorcing. Cyrus negotiates the Santa Barbara House, full campaign support from Fitz on Mellie's run for the White House, as well as the promise that Liv and Fitz won't publicize their relationship. Olivia cannot live in the White House nor can she ever take the Grant name. Olivia encourages Fitz to succumb to all these demands and yet Mellie still isn't satisfied. She accuses Cyrus of being soft and he goes to the President and asks him to put his relationship with Liv on hold and take Mellie back for the sake of her campaign. They agree. Satisfied with his performance, Cyrus once again apologizes to Fitz and asks for his job back. Fitz dismisses him without a thought. Infuriated, Cyrus goes back to Mellie and tells her she got played. As Mellie flashes back to all the crap she's put up with through the years, she pulls out of the interview and makes a run for it. Instead, Abby heads to the briefing room and tells them all that Olivia is kind of a whore and is making up stories again about powerful men with whom she's been sleeping. Fitz is upset, but Olivia is proud as it is the move she would have made too.

At Pope and Associates, Huck and Quinn are scrambling to help Olivia until Jake arrives with vodka. He shuts off the news and the internet and tells them to knock it off. Olivia didn't ask for their help and they all need to get drunk. And yet, when Olivia calls Jake to check in, he jumps at her call and offers again to come get her. At the end, Huck and Quinn see that on the news the Louvre is burning. This is a form of trigger for Jake and he pays a visit to Rowan in prison to tell him. Rowan mentions Lazarus 1 and quotes "Nero fiddled while Rome burned." (Technically Paris, but, you know, metaphor...)

A couple things to discuss: first of all, I cannot wrap my head around Jeff Perry (Cyrus). How is he so skilled at being vile and despicable and yet, when Fitz dismissed him, it was absolutely heartbreaking. WHY do I feel this much sympathy for someone so awful? He is truly a remarkable performer. His eyes were so filled with emotion it was almost unbearable. Second, I am SO happy that Mellie didn't succumb to this deal that Cyrus negotiated. Yes, Cyrus was actually the one playing her, but he was also right. Why does she have to keep living a lie instead of being who she is? She sacrificed everything for Fitz and even now when he seems to be doing her a favor, he's really still being a D-bag to her. Third, I'm also really happy Abby called Liv out on her BS. She did lie to her face and that was really uncalled for especially when Liv tried to justify it as a favor. Abby is good at her job and it's about time Fitz and everyone else started trusting her to do it. And lastly, can we talk about Jake? I know, I know, he's all I ever talk about, but Olivia? You are losing me. You walk all over Jake and he never hesitates to be ready to drop everything for you no matter how much you walk all over him. Conversely, Fitz has no regard for your life or your passions or your work and you do everything for him. I shall remain Team Jake even with his re-teaming with Rowan.

So clearly Lazarus One is opening up a new mystery involving the former assassins. I'm glad to see Joe Morton back. I am sure Olivia is about to be dragged through the mud, so it'll be a nice distraction to have her deal with her lingering daddy issues.
