Thailand's travel and tourism sector, which declined slightly in 2009, performed well during the review period. The country recorded an increase in number of visitors, both domestic and intertiol, as well as an increase in expenditure by tourists. Economic growth and promotiol activities by the tourism authority supported this growth. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), in 2012, tourism contributed 16.7% to the country's GDP, and accounted for 12.4% of the total employment. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launched several campaigns such as Amazing Thailand', Beautiful Thailand' and Unseen in Thailand' to attract intertiol and domestic tourists.
