The 9, Cleveland's new urban, luxury resort collaborated with local artist, Jason Wein, of Cleveland Art, to design its inspirational chandeliers. Wein recycles old materials to create hand-blown glass lighting, industrial-inspired carts, tables, cabinets, seating, and shelves and furniture.
In the lobby of The 9, there are two Wein-designed chandeliers. One is 6-feet and one is 12-feet wide. Each lighting fixture holds approximately 2,500 hand-blown crystals that cascade down from refurbished wagon wheels. There is also an 80-foot chandelier filled with several thousand hand-blown crystals; it guides guests around the entire first floor of The 9. The pieces are so grand, they can be seen from East 9 th Street, adding to The 9's luxurious curb appeal.
The detail and care seen in Cleveland Art's chandeliers matches The 9's Autograph Collection by Marriott hotel, Metropolitan at The 9 Hotel, which includes extravagant amenities and chic atmosphere.
"I have been to some of the best boutique hotels in the world, and this [The 9] is hands-down the greatest boutique hotel on the planet," says Wein. "It will be a world-class destination."
The 9 is Wein's largest project in Cleveland, but it is not his first extravagant endeavor. Wein has designed pieces for A-list clients, both in the United States and abroad. His clients include famous architects, interior designers, hotels, restaurants, retail stores and motion picture and television industries.
Wein and his team at Cleveland Art have been working day and night since March on this project. Their refurbished designs complement The 9's old-meets-new historic design.
