NYC Car Service App Whisk Unveils Unlimited Ride Pass, the First Black Car Equivalent of a Weekly Metrocard

By: Mar. 05, 2014

In an unprecedented move for New York City's ground transportation industry, new car service app Whisk has unveiled Whisk Unlimited Ride Pass, unlimited ride subscriptions offering New Yorkers flat-rate weekly memberships for black car transportation. This is Whisk's latest innovation to help black car and livery companies make car service a standard, viable and affordable method of daily transportation for New Yorkers.

"Unlimited Ride Pass is our answer to the subway system'sMetrocard," saidMichael Ibrahim,CEO of Whisk. "Traffic and ridevolume fluctuate wildly. That's why no cab or black car companies have tried this before.AtWhisk, we'll take up any challenge to provideease of service and consistency for our everyday riders. We are not the occasionalsplurge; we're building a solution for New Yorkers' everyday transportation needs. WhiskUnlimited Ride Passis one exampleof this."

Currently, two unlimited packages are available:

  • The "To and From" provides unlimited non-stop rides to and from any two points of interest (i.e.: home and school or work and home) in Manhattan.
  • The "Departing From" provides unlimited non-stop rides departing from any one point in Manhattan (i.e.: home) and terminating anywhere in the same borough.

Both packages include one additional non-stop ride anywhere in Manhattan below 110 th Street, 10 percent off all other rides, and automatic enrollment in Whisk's Priority Peak status, another new service. Priority Peak lets top riders 'jump the queue' during times of high demand. If cars are scarce, Priority Peak customers' ride requests move ahead of requests from other riders. In addition, Priority Peak members never pay a surcharge.

Subscriptions are sold in weekly increments (gratuity not included), and pricing is determined based on selected points of interest. Sample pricing is available upon request, and complete terms are available at http://whisk.me/ridepass.

Ibrahim added, "Currently, 97 percent of New York City metro-area rides are not facilitated by smartphones. We see a clear need for car service companies and technologies to work smarter and more creatively to meet industry and rider demand."

With more than 2,500 cars already under contract across the five boroughs, Whisk is quickly becoming a sought-after app for its industry friendly platform; consumer-friendly interface, pricing and real-time control; and corporate accessibility.
