NYC's Metropolis Opera Project Relaunches With TOSCA And TURANDOT Metropolis Opera Project opens up shop again after a six year hiatus with Tosca in collaboration with Opera Ithaca at the historic Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church in Fort Greene, Brooklyn on Sunday, February 18th at 4pm.

Tosca features Megan Nielson in the title role, Italian-born tenor and film and tv actor, Paolo Buffagni, as Cavaradossi, Michael Nyby as Scarpia, Jake Stamatis as Angelotti, Benno Ressa as The Sacristan, Andrew Hudson-Sabens as Spoletta, Nathan Murphy as Sciarrone and Rachel Silverstein as Shepard Boy. Tosca is presented in a semi-staged concert production, directed by Ellen Jackson and conducted by Gordon Schermer. The production opened in Ithaca on Friday, February 16th as part of Opera Ithaca's fourth season, playing to a sold-out crowd. Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church Organist J. David Williams will be featured in the famous Te Deum finale of Act One.

Metropolis Opera Project will present Turandot May 22nd and 24th at the TWA lounge on the 86th floor of One World Trade. Amanda Zory stars as Turandot alongside Byron Singleton as Calaf, Megan Nielson as Liu, SeungHyeon Back as the Mandarin and Sean Clark as the Emperor. The production is directed by Annie Chadwick and conducted by Chris Wilson featuring the Choir For All Seasons under the leadership of Faser Hardin.

Metropolis Opera Project opened in 2008 as an artist collective dedicated to the development and continuation of the operatic tradition. Metropolis Opera Project has produced world premieres including Bully Pulpit by Kristin Hevner and Royce Vavrek, The Nightingale and the Rose by Benjamin Scheuer, Obese Cantavit by Larry Lees, the American premiere of Kristin Hevner's Il Sogno as well as traditional operatic repertoire, concerts and community events.
