American soprano Latonia Moore will make her Met debut as the title character in Verdi's Aida in the March 3 matinee performance, replacing Violeta Urmana, who is ill.

Moore was a winner of the Met's National Council Auditions in 2000. She sang Aida last season at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden and the Hamburg State Opera. In recent seasons, she has sung Lucrezia in Verdi's I Due Foscari at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste and the Bilbao Opera; the title role in Floyd's Susannah and Micaëla in Bizet's Carmen at the Bilbao Opera; the title role in Puccini's Madama Butterfly and Amelia in Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera at Hamburg State Opera; Desdemona in Verdi's Otello at Charlotte Opera; and Liù in Puccini's Turandot at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden.

Aida, conducted by Marco Armiliato, also stars Stephanie Blythe as Amneris, Marcello Giordani as Radamès, Lado Ataneli as Amonasro, James Morris as Ramfis, and Jordan Bisch as the King. The March 3 performance will be broadcast live over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network and on Metropolitan Opera Radio on Sirius XM.
