Brownlee, Zapata et al. Set for Zimmerman's ARMIDA at the Met, 4/12 - 5/12

The full cast and creative team has been announced for Mary Zimmerman's production of Armida at the Metropolitan Opera. The Rossini opera will be presented April 12 through May 12 and will star Renée Fleming as the title sorceress. The performance will be sung in Italian with titles in English, Spanish, and German. 

Other cast mambers include: Lawrence Brownlee as Rinaldo, José Manuel Zapata as Gernando, John Osborn as Goffredo, Barry Banks as Carlo, Kobie van Rensburg as Ubaldo, Yegishe Manucharyan as Eustazio, Peter Volpe as Idraote, and Keith Miller as Astarotte.

Creative team for the production includes choreography by Graciela Daniele with assistance by Dnaiel Pelzig, scenic/costume design by Richard Hudson, and lighting design by Brian MacDevitt.

Armida revolves around a vengeful sorceress who reigns over an enchanted island prison. This marks the first time the opera is being shown at the Met.  As previously announced, the final dress rehearsal on April 9 will be open to the public. The show will also be and will be transmitted live to hundreds of theaters on May 1 as part of The Met: Live in HD series.
