Adam Klein to Replace Stefan Margita in the Met's DAS RHEINGOLD Tonight, 5/5
Adam Klein will sing the role of Loge in Wagner's Das Rheingold tonight, May 5, replacing Stefan Margita, who is ill.
Before singing his first Loge at the Met on Thursday evening of last week, Klein had sung thirteen roles with the company. He debuted at the Met as a boy soprano singing Yniold in Pelléas et Mélisande in 1972. His company debut as a tenor came in 2001 as Count Elemer in Richard Strauss's Arabella. Klein has previously sung Loge at the Indianapolis Opera and with the Liederkranz Foundation.
Das Rheingold is conducted by Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi and features Wendy Bryn Harmer as Freia, Stephanie Blythe as Fricka, Patricia Bardon as Erda, Robert Brubaker as Mime, Bryn Terfel as Wotan, Richard Paul Fink as Alberich, Franz-Josef Selig as Fasolt, and Hans-Peter König as Fafner. The production is by Robert Lepage.

Opera Saratoga's board of directors has announced that Mary Birnbaum has been named the company's new general and artistic director. She succeeds former General and Artistic Director Lawrence Edelson, whose eight year tenure concluded at the end of the 2022 season. Birnbaum is the tenth general director in the Opera Saratoga's celebrated history.
