Tye Tribbett to Perform at Madame Walker Theatre Center 8/20

The Madame Walker Theatre Center announced its first Cultural Arts Season since 2009. The line-up boasts seven unique concerts sure to draw diverse audiences to the National Historic Landmark. On August 20th, 2011 famed gospel singer and songwriter, Tye Tribbett will perform a 90 minute concert on the Main Stage at the Walker Theatre. A native of Camden, New Jersey, Tye Tribbett, whose father was a preacher and mother was a choir director, heard his calling early on. "I always wanted to do something for the Lord," he acknowledges. Tribbett and crew are making a stop in Indianapolis in the midst of the Fresh Tour, as he debut's his latest album.

A contest is being held to determine which 3 regional artists will open for the gospel star. The Walker accepted video submissions and then entered them on Facebook for the public to vote for their favorite artists. The top 3 will grace the stage and open for Tye Tribbett. In partnership with AM1310 The Light, concert tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Madame Walker Theatre Center box office, or on ticketmaster.com. Children under 5 years of age are $5. Doors open at 7pm on the 20th and the concert will begin at 7:30pm. Seating is general for this performance.
