Silva Classics To Release Ruhan's Time To Grow

Best known for her role in Damon Albarn's Chinese rock-opera Monkey: Journey To The West, Ruhan creates a beautiful album that is both bold and innovative. Time To Grow combines Chinese musical concepts and elements with Western forms to produce a unique world music form.

The album superbly showcases Ruhan's delightful tone and a wide vocal range. With ten tracks sung in Chinese and two featuring the English translation, this is a truly international project that binds talent from Sweden, China, Taiwan, Australia, US, UK and the Faroe Islands. The writers for this album include famous Swedish pianist Robert Wells, while the production mixing is led by well-known mixing engineer, Bernard Lohr (Mamma Mia, Celine Dion, Westlife, Il Divo).

Ruhan started her musical training early, learning the piano at the age of four. In the next ten years, Ruhan played in opera, musicals, drama and TV shows before studying singing at the Chinese Conservatory Of Music and majoring in bel-canto at the Shanghai Conservatory Of Music. Her major performance credits include the theme song for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and "Dao Zai Fan Ye" on Christopher Tin's 2011 double Grammy award winning album, Calling All Dawns (Best Classical Crossover & Best Instrumental Arrangement).

In 2009, Ruhan won the First Prize at the 18th Discovery International Festival and second Prize for bel-canto at the prestigious Llangollen International Music Festival, held in Wales.
