DRGN King Signed to Bar None Records; PARAGRAPH NIGHTS Album Set for Release, Jan 2013

The Philadelphia based duo DRGN King has announced their signing to Bar None Records. Through this new partnership, the band is gearing up for the release of their debut full-length studio album Paragraph Nights in January 2013. Prior to the album, the label will be releasing the band’s debut single “Holy Ghost” on October 23rd as part of a limited edition seven inch featuring the exclusive vinyl b-side “Son of Wolfman” (featuring Philly rapper Peedi Crakk) – both songs will also be available via all Digital Service Providers. The “Holy Ghost” single is also set to impact commercial specialty and college radio that same day. Check out the official music video for “Holy Ghost” here!

DRGN King began as an unlikely pairing. Before the inception of DRGN King, Dominic Angellela, vocalist and principle songwriter, could be found on a different Philly stage every night. Involved in everything from Americana to arty grunge, Angellela had become a staple on the Philadelphia music scene. In a chance recording session in 2010, Angellela was matched up with south-Philly producer Brent “Ritz” Reynolds, the man behind cuts from The Roots and Mac Miller. The two immediately hit it off, using each other’s unique sound and talents to create a niche entirely their own in DRGN King. While Angellela gave Reynolds the songs to expand his production finesse in a more rock world, Reynolds gave Angellela the tools to seamlessly marry his varying musical taste and interests into one project.

In the past two years, DRGN King have taken root in the Philly music scene, earning praise from WXPN’s The Key, who have outwardly stated their eager anticipation of Paragraph Nights: “With each new song they drop, I get all the more antsy to hear DRGN King‘s debut full-length Paragraph Nights.” They also received a nod from Paste Magazine, who had WXPN’s Bruce Warren name “11 Pennsylvania Bands You Should Listen to Now.” Bruce included DRGN King in the round-up calling the duo’s sound “otherworldly soulful pop.”

Now thanks to their new deal with Bar None, Philly and the rest of the US won’t have to wait too long for DRGN King’s debut album Paragraph Nights. In addition to the “Holy Ghost” single release the band will be doing some live shows. See below for the first of this fall’s confirmed dates, and stay tuned for many more to come.
