DENVER - Colorado Ballet will perform a collection of classical and contemporary works at An Evening under the Stars at 7:30 p.m. on August 20, 2016 at the Arvada Center Outdoor Amphitheater, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, CO 80003.

An Evening under the Stars will feature excerpts from upcoming and past productions including the Swan Lake pas de trois and Black Swan pas de deux, Light Rain pas de deux, It's Not a Cry pas de deux as well as other classical and contemporary works. The performance will close with the tango-inspired ballet The Angel of Buenos Aires by choreographer and Colorado Ballet's Ballet Mistress Lorita Travaglia. The Angel of Buenos Aires made its world premiere with Colorado Ballet in March 2016 and features music by Piazzolla.

"Colorado Ballet kicks off the season every year with An Evening under the Stars at the Arvada Center Outdoor Amphitheater," said Colorado Ballet Artistic Director Gil Boggs. "This fun summer performance includes selections from ballets we have presented in the past, ones that are coming up and works that highlight the dancers' artistry in a relaxed, outdoor venue. Plus, we are excited to perform an encore of the romantic tango ballet The Angel of Buenos Aires, for patrons who missed it earlier this year or for individuals who want to see it again."

Colorado Ballet's 56th season includes Swan Lake October 7-23, 2016, The Nutcracker November 26-December 24, 2016, Ballet MasterWorks February 17-26, 2017, and The Little Mermaid March 31-April 2, 2017.
