Amy Miller Joins Gibney Dance as Associate Artistic Director

Amy Miller, a long-time Gibney collaborator and colleague and a Company member since 2011, was recently promoted to Associate Artistic Director. In this new role, Amy will serve as rehearsal director and artistic administrator. She will also work closely with Community Action Manager Yasemin Ozumerzifon and the dancers to further enrich and develop theCommunity Action program. Congratulations to Amy as she embarks on this new journey!

This fall, Associate Artistic Director Amy Miller will offer a weekly ballet class on Saturdays from 12 - 2 pm. Ballet: A Somatic Approach combines the rigor and specificity of ballet vocabulary with a sense of weighted momentum to increase efficiency of movement. Using descriptive language and a personal approach, Amy's class promotes the exploration of a performance quality informed by one's own imagination. The music of pianist Allen Fogelsanger creates a rich conversation between music and dance. We hope to see you there!
