The Cleveland Orchestra announces a three-concert "At the Movies" Celebrity Series for the 2014-15 season. With the popularity of film showings with live accompaniment the past three seasons, the Orchestra continues the tradition with "Phantom of the Opera," "Disney's Fantasia," and "Vertigo." All three movies will be projected on a giant screen above the Severance Hall stage, with musical accompaniment performed live. The Cleveland Orchestra's 2014-15 Celebrity Series is sponsored by PNC Bank.

On Tuesday, October 28, one of the greatest horror films ever made, "Phantom of the Opera," will be presented with acclaimed organist Todd Wilson accompanying the film with improvised live music. On Thursday, December 11, families can discover classical music through Disney's classic films with the music of the soundtracks performed live by The Cleveland Orchestra conducted by Brett Mitchell. To close the series on Friday, February 13, The Cleveland Orchestra conducted by Brett Mitchell perform "Vertigo" with its rich, seductive, and complex musical score. "Vertigo" is considered one of the greatest achievements of the legendary partnership between director Alfred Hitchcock and composer Bernard Herrmann.

"PNC Bank is proud to sponsor The Cleveland Orchestra's 2014-15 Celebrity Series," says Paul Clark, regional president of PNC Bank. "We are delighted for the opportunity to support these concerts so that the whole of the Northeast Ohio community can have the opportunity to experience three very special nights 'at the movies' partnered with such world-renowned musicians in the magnificence of Severance Hall."

"The Orchestra's Celebrity Series has been a tremendous success," comments Ross Binnie, chief marketing officer of The Cleveland Orchestra, "and we are extraordinarily pleased to welcome PNC Bank as sponsor for these popular concerts. This series is an essential part of our commitment to play more music for more people each and every year, and by presenting these great movies on the big screen with the excitement of live musical accompaniment, we provide yet another unique kind of concert excitement for our audiences in a way only The Cleveland Orchestra can."

Launched in 2009-10 as a three-concert series featuring diverse popular programming with The Cleveland Orchestra, the Celebrity Series has consistently drawn sold-out houses. Each season has varied in offerings, drawing from a broad range of musical styles and exploring different avenues of orchestral music, including classic movie scores as well as classic and popular jazz.

Series subscriptions are now available for purchase through the Severance Hall Ticket Office, or online atclevelandorchestra.com.

Subscribers to the "At the Movies" Celebrity Series can also choose to purchase tickets to two special Holiday Celebrity presentations in December: "Vienna Boys Choir" on Tuesday, December 2, and "Natalie MacMaster: Christmas in Cape Breton" with The Cleveland Orchestra on Wednesday, December 17.
