Attention budding musicians! Instruction and performance with the best talent in the midwest is now scheduled. The Canton Symphony Orchestra (CSO) has announced its summer music camp session dates for violin, viola, cello and string bass musicians in grades 5-12. The camps include sectional coachings with professional musicians from the CSO and large ensemble work with Rachel Waddell, Assistant Conductor of the CSO.
The Intermediate/Advanced session will be held at Fieldcrest Estate (1346 Easthill Street SE in North Canton) June 9-13 from 9a-3p. The Advanced session is recommended for students entering grades 6-12 who have at least two years of experience playing their instruments. Cost is $275, with a $25 discount if the student is registered by April 30, 2014. The Beginning Students session is recommended for music students with less than two years experience (typically grades 5-6). The Beginning session is at Fieldcrest Estate June 16-20 from 9a-Noon. Cost is $150 for the string camp with a $25 discount if the student is registered by April 30, 2014. "The sectional coachings set our camp apart," stated Lisa Boyer, CSO Director of Education and Community Advancement. "Working with the CSO professional musicians who specialize on these instruments helps students fine-tune their technique and musicianship in many ways. In addition, time is allotted so students understand the large ensemble dynamic. This is where Ms. Waddell shines," Boyer concluded.Videos
