Quintet Of The Americas Presents Americans In Paris And Back Again Concert

Quintet of the Americas, Queens' renowned woodwind quintet, will present Americans in Paris and Back Again, a program that explores the influence on American composers of Nadia Boulanger, the famous 20th century composition teacher, on Friday, April 20 @ 7:30 PM at Marc A. Scorca Hall of the National Opera Center, 330 Seventh Ave., 7th Floor in Manhattan.

Boulanger's influence was far and wide, with over 1,200 composers coming from all over the world to study with her. In this concert the Quintet will perform works by Astor Piazzolla, Irving Fine, Elliott Carter, and Leonard Bernstein, all composers who were directly influenced by her, as well as music by Bruce Stark, one of the next generation of composers who felt her influence.

The program will include an historic video of an interview with Madame Boulanger.

Tickets for the April 20 event are $20/ $10 students and seniors, available at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3381464. More information at https://www.facebook.com/events/1546066962186519/.
