Palisades Virtuosi Presents Like a Diamond in the Sky Concert Today

The Palisades Virtuosi flute, clarinet and piano trio presents Like a Diamond in the Sky, the final concert of their 2015-2016 season today, June 10 @ 8:00 PM at the George Frey Center for Arts and Recreation in the Fair Lawn Community Center, 10-10 20th Street in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Pre-concert talk at 7:15 PM.

The program of celestially inspired music will include the World Premiere of Roger Stubblefield's Fire Diamond, Op. 18, for flute, clarinet & piano, commissioned by Palisades Virtuosi. This is part of the ensemble's "Mission to Commission", and celebrates 75 works created for them since 2003.

Other composers on this program include Matthew Baier, Chopin, David Diamond, Ron Levy, Mozart, Gary Schocker and Martin Sedek.

Composer, conductor, and performer Roger Stubblefield has had compositions performed by members of the New Jersey Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Opera Theatre, and the State Orchestra of Merida in Venezuela. In 2015 Stubblefield was one of the featured composers on the Winter Festival series at the prestigious BargeMusic. He was also the featured composer on several other local music series this past year, including Kean University's Ars Vitalis Music Series, and the Brooklyn New Music Collective series. Stubblefield's Concerto for Viola and Orchestra was premiered in 2011 with the State Orchestra of Merida, in Venezuela under the direction of Maestro César Lván Lara. In the same year Stubblefield's Divertissement for Cello and Piano was debuted at Lincoln Center in New York City by cellist Louise Dubin and pianist Reiko Uchida. He has also been nominated for the 2015 and 2014 music award in composition by the American Academy of Arts and Letters. The Palisades Virtuosi, consisting of flutist Margaret Swinchoski, clarinetist Donald Mokrynski and pianist Ron Levy, is a 501 (c)(3) organization established to promote and enrich the repertoire for flute, clarinet and piano and present concerts that include existing and newly-commissioned repertoire for this configuration (each of their concerts includes a work commissioned by the ensemble), supplemented by solos, duos and larger works featuring guest artists.
