The February 20, 2008 deadline for submitting scripts and materials for consideration for the Ninth Annual Midtown International Theatre Festival, running from July 14 - August 10, is drawing near. So, theatre producers wanting to be part of MITF9, which takes place in seven different theatres at five separate venues, need to submit their work as soon as possible.
The Festival encourages submissions from every genre, from drama to musical comedy, from classical revivals to experimental productions. Every show must be accompanied by a producer and production team. MITF's artistic thrust is on the script itself, and therefore asks for minimal production values. This year the MITF will take place at the WorkShop Theater's MainStage Space, the Abingdon Theatre Company's June Havoc Theatre and Dorothy Strelsin Theatre, the Barrow Group Theatre (all of which are located at 312 West 36th Street, between 8th & 9th Avenues); John Chatterton's Where Eagles Dare Theatre and Studio Theatre (located at 347 West 36th Street -also between 8th & 9th Avenues), and Stage Left Studio - located at 438 West 37th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues. Shows at the Barrow Group space will be part of the MITF's new Commercial Division, which will feature productions specifically looking for a life beyond the MITF. (More details about the Commercial Division will be released in the coming weeks.)Videos
