The Hershey Symphony is proud to announce Leslie Ziyue Wang of Lancaster County as the winner of the 14th Annual Young Artist Competition. Wang will be awarded a $1,500 scholarship for her March 25th performance of Schumann Piano Concerto in A minor, 1st mvt, at Elizabethtown College and will perform with the Hershey Symphony Orchestra at the Hershey Theatre during the orchestra's 2014-2015 season.

The exceptional talent demonstrated by the performers resulted in a tie between second place winners. Judges selected Joseph DeAngelo and Jesse Thompson for their performances of the Wieniawski Violin Concerto #2, 1st mvt. DeAngelo and Thompson will each be awarded $400. Charles A. Turner, of Turner and Associates, a financial advisory practice of Ameriprize Financial Services, Inc. sponsors the competition.

The Young Artist Competition is meant for students enrolled in grades 7 through 11 living in South Central Pennsylvania to showcase phenomenal musical talent. Performers must send in applications and sample recordings to the Hershey Symphony Orchestra before receiving an audition. Selected students are given the opportunity to perform before a panel of highly qualified professionals at Elizabethtown College.
