Cellist Nicole Johnson Performs at Hoff-Barthelson Music School's HB Artist Recital Series, 4/21

Cellist Nicole Johnson performs a recital of Impressionistic, contemporary and traditional works on Hoff-Barthelson Music School's HB Artist Recital Series on Friday, April 21, 2017, at 8:00 pm at the Greenville Community Church, 270 Ardsley Road, Scarsdale. Included on the program are Claude Debussy's Sonata for Cello and Piano, traditional Bulgarian dance tunes, and works by contemporary composers Hilary Tann (Lullaby), Paul Wianko (American Haiku for Viola and Cello), Carter Brey (Tanga para Ilaria) and Chinary Ung (Khse Buon).

Joining Ms. Johnson are HBMS faculty members Tomoko Uchino, piano and Chi-Chi Lin Bestmann, viola and guest cellists Mizuka Hayakawa and Melanie Hus.

Admission to the recital is $18, $15 for seniors (65+) and free of charge to HBMS students and students 18 years of age and younger. Tickets are available for purchase at the door, or can be ordered by calling 914-723-1169, or by e-mailing hb@hbms.org. Tickets to a series of three recitals are available at a reduced rate.

About Nicole Johnson:

Nicole Johnson has performed as a recitalist and chamber musician throughout the U.S. and Germany. She received her B.M. from the Cleveland Institute of Music and her M.S. from the Julliard School. She studied under Alan Harris, Andrés Díaz, Christoph Henkel, and Joel Krosnick and received Suzuki training from Nancy Hair, Alice Vierra, Barbara Wampner and Carol Tarr.

Ms. Johnson currently performs with the Cassatt String Quartet and is a former member of the Avanti Ensemble and the Cleveland Chamber Orchestra. She has appeared in performances with the Vermeer Quartet on their series in Chicago, on the Composers' Guild concerts in New York City and at the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina. She is Director of the Cushing Cello Camp and is on the faculties of Hoff-Barthelson Music School, the Special Music School in Manhattan and the Westchester Suzuki Institute. Ms. Johnson plays an 1806 Nicholas cello.
