A2SO Presents 10th Annual Side-by-Side Concert Tonight

Tonight, February 25, 2016 the Pinckney Community Schools' Orchestras and the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra will celebrate their tenth annual Side-By-Side concert at Jane Tasch Theater.

The concert builds upon the first Side-By-Side concert that took place a decade ago. Years of collaboration between the Pinckney Community Schools and the A²SO include A²SO Conductor and Music Director Arie Lipsky working with all of the Pinckney orchestras in the weeks before the Side-By-Side concert as well as A2SO musicians working with each section of the orchestra in sectional rehearsals.

The A2SO and the student orchestra, will perform the following repertoire:
D String Boogie
• Fiddles on Fire
• The Fourth movement
from Dvorak's New World Symphony
• Music from The Phantom of the Opera
• Berceuse and Finale from Stravinsky's Firebird
The Overture from Rossini's Barber of Seville

The A2SO and Pinckney Community Schools are happy to welcome back flutist Kelly Sulick, Pinckney High School class of 2000. Kelly went on to receive degrees in Flute performance and English Language Literature from the University of Michigan, and a Masters in Flute Performance from the University of Southern California. She is currently Principal Flutist of the Charlottesville Symphony and Professor of Flute at the University of Virginia. Kelly will be the featured soloist at the Side-By-Side concert, performing Mozart's Andante in C with the combined Pinckney High School and Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.
