Fiscal Press announced today that Toby Gold and the Secret Fortune by Craig Everett is among the ForeWord Review's 2012 Book of the Year Award list of finalists in the Juvenile Fiction category. Representing more than 700 publishers, the finalists were selected from 1300 entries.

ForeWord's Book of the Year Awards program highlights the year's most distinguished books from independent publishers. Award winners are chosen by librarians and booksellers who are on the front lines, working everyday with patrons and customers.

"I am very honored that Toby Gold and the Secret Fortune has been chosen as a Book of the Year Award finalist," states author Craig R. Everett, a finance professor in the MBA program at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. "It's been thrilling to receive such great feedback from both kids and adults. The kids seem to love the story, and the parents, teachers and librarians like the financial education the book provides."

Toby Gold and the Secret Fortune is an urban fantasy, where a secret magical world of money and intrigue co-exist with the everyday world we all know. Toby grows up in foster homes in Wallingford, Connecticut, not knowing about this secret society until one day when he discovers secret messages encrypted into the stock ticker "crawl" that moves along the bottom of the screen on the financial news channel.

Toby's shock grows worse when he realizes that the secret messages are directed to him! His unique abilities with math and money have been noticed by the wrong people, and Toby is quickly sucked into a high-stakes life or death financial conspiracy that he is only able to resolve by using his amazing skills with money.

Book of the Year Award winners will be announced at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Chicago, Friday, June 28th, 2013 at 6:00 pm central time.
