Noelle M. Meade-Izzi's new book, "The Hummingbird That Answered My Heart's Calling," is a visually rich narrative with full-color photographs about the tiniest bird known to humankind, which acted as a guide to introduce everyday spirituality in the author's life during her most trying point.

"With the economic collapse of 2008, I shared in the experience of millions of Americans who spent their days overcome with fear and a seemingly incurable case of the "what ifs." As a single woman who had recently started my own business and purchased my own home, these troubles weren't just about finances - they extended to my personal life," says Meade-Izzi, whose busy lifestyle in the corporate world, combined with the nation's instability had been crushing her sense of well-being.

"Somehow, a hummingbird that was building a little nest right next to my balcony helped change and enrich my life, with a kind of everyday spirituality. I eventually named her Artemis, and witnessed her heroic efforts to complete a nest for her chick and then raise it to maturity, all on her own. It helped nurse me through a healthy transformation."

Everyday spirituality, exemplified by her nature neighbor, Artemis, opened Meade-Izzi's eyes to experiencing life's daily miracles - seeing the extraordinary within the ordinary - in the midst of the stressors and strife that inundated her life. Publishing the book, which is filled with colorful pictures of the bird and its chick, was not only a tribute to her experience, but also a reminder to readers of nature's majesty.

At one point, the author writes that she heard the audible fluttering of wings outside her bedroom screen slider early in the morning. It was Artemis, who seemed to be summoning her. After following her to the nest, Meade-Izzi discovered the bird's egg had hatched.

"Did she really intend to show me what happened? - I think so; we'd developed a palpable bond throughout the entire nesting process," she says.

Amazon reviewer Mary gives the book five stars.
"This book is an extraordinary work of art, not only in the way the author speaks to us or the astounding photos of this little miracle at work, but in the message of how one tiny creature can change our everyday lives into amazing adventures, and a true journey within. Words cannot describe the beauty of the author's journey, which you can't help but experience with her while reading. This book is a beautiful reminder of life's everyday miracles..."
