Every once in a while an unknown author writes a book that commands attention. Although these rookie gems are rare, they do happen. Ryan Coughlin (aka William Press) charms readers with a ruby red nugget in his first novel, The Landlord. The tale is as crisp as the winter air in North Dakota, which is the backdrop of this dark, frigid thriller.

Written anthology-style, The Landlord is tight and twisty. The story takes place in the dead of winter in a fictionalized version of a real town-Fort Totten, ND. An ominous landlord opens up his doors to four houses, with four bad apples. One tenant in each house is maliciously murdered. Motive seems clear. But that's a mistake. The fable is unique and thought provoking.

Ryan's screenwriting has been produced by the US Army ("Battlemind") and in movies ("Ditch Day Massacre" as co-writer & "Shortcomings"). Coughlin's other circulated writing consists of short stories ("Off the Rails" & "Variety Man") and various articles published by news outlets including San Diego Union Tribune.

The Landlord has been published by Vamptasy Publishing (www.vamptasy.com), a well-known source for new and established indie authors. The book is available digitally (smarturl.it/thelandlord) or on paperback through Amazon.
