Summer Game Books, publisher of new and classic baseball books, has signed a deal with author David Cataneo to re-release the inspiring story of Boston baseball legend Tony Conigliaro," Tony C: The Triumph and Tragedy of Tony Conigliaro."
As a budding superstar for the Boston Red Sox in 1967, Tony Conigliaro became the youngest major league player to reach 100 career home runs. But Boston's "Impossible Dream" season became a nightmare for Conig, when on August 18th he was hit just under his left eye by an errant fastball. At first the question wasn't would Tony C. ever play again; it was "Will he live?" Conigliaro did play again, and quite well for a short time, until the after effects of the beaning overtook him, and his heroic life descending into tragedy. "The rise and fall of Tony Conigliaro is one of the most dramatic stories in the history of American sport," says Summer Game Books publisher Walter Friedman. "No book about Conig matches David Cataneo's for its insights into the man and details of his incredible life and death. We are proud and excited to have 'Tony C.' on our list."Videos
