LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ Oak Lane Films announced today that actor Amen Ra has been cast as the Roman Centurion, Longinus, for the film adaption of Dianne Marshall's book "Spear of Destiny: The Journey Begins." Oak Lane Films recently concluded an option agreement for Marshall's book and screenplay and has initiated pre-production efforts for the film.

"Oak Lane Films is excited to be working with Dianne Marshall in bringing her powerful book to the screen," said Donald Bredberg, CEO of Oak Lane Films' parent company, the Adventure Entertainment Cos., "and we are delighted to cast Amen Ra in the role of Longinus. Amen will deliver what is required, he can handle the fight and combat scenes including some on horseback, and he has the dramatic gravitas that Dianne Marshall envisioned." The Longinus character, the film's lead character, at various times in the story takes to horseback and engages in close quarters combat with Roman gladius', which would ordinarily require some extensive stunt work.

As set forth in Marshall's screenplay, "The Spear of Destiny" is an account of the life of Longinus following his presence and role at history's most renowned execution. The story follows Longinus' desertion from Rome's Legions, his escape and life as a fugitive, an unexpected love interest, his battles as a rebel against Rome, and his discovery of a faith that propels him to an epic moment with the Roman Emperor Nero. As venerated in Christian traditions, Longinus is the name ascribed to the Roman soldier who lanced Jesus with a spear that over the centuries has become known as the Lance of Longinus, the Holy Lance, or the Spear of Destiny.
