New Book Inspires Readers to Grow Through Life's Trials Carol Welty Roper returns to the literary limelight with the release of "Forty Days with Ruth" (published by Trafford Publishing). Inspired from a real story, the book follows a young woman who must survive in the prairie alone.

It is 1898 and Ruth, an adventurous young Texan, elopes with Riley Welty, a carefree and impulsive man whom she barely knows. They run away across the Red River and into Oklahoma Territory to claim free land, only to face various trials. Because they run out of food, Riley leaves Ruth to go hunting. Due to storms and flooding, he is unable to return to her for 40 days. Through this whole ordeal, Ruth must survive not only physically but also emotionally and spiritually.

"'Forty Days with Ruth' is a timeless story of growing from adolescence into adulthood. It is a story of self-discovery and forgiveness. This is a universal story that surpasses time, ethnicity or culture because it is the basic human condition of survival in a hostile environment," Roper shares.

Told through Ruth's memories and dreams, the book reminds readers that they are never truly alone. "This is a teaching story to show how each of us can trust the fact that during crisis and bad times a strength within us, from the God of the universe, will make each of us more than conquerors," Roper adds.
