Michael E. Stafford, formerly an Airborn Infantryman in the US Army, has completed his new book "Standard Procedure": the detailed account of the daily drama of a veteran.

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Stafford's intimate tale sheds light on the life of Michael Salem, an honest man whose life circumstances continue to put him in difficult situations.

Michael's army service left his body worn beyond its forty-two years, not to mention deep bruises on his psyche. In spite of the fact that he is working hard to turn around his life, he always fears he stigma that comes along with the two-year gap in his resume while completing a rehab program.

The veteran's life is further complicated by his inability to put a ring on his girlfriend's finger in spite of their fourteen year romance and their beautiful and intelligent ten-year-old daughter. Then there is the ever-present drain of the dependency of his thirteen-year-old son's mother lurking in the background.

The stresses of Michael's life push him to find gainful hobbies, one of which is suddenly revealing itself to be less of a recreational activity and more of a productive career. However, all progress comes to a crashing halt when an unexpected phone call delivers jarring news that is a complete life-changer.

Readers who wish to experience this intriguing work can purchase "Standard Procedure" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
