Jeanette Dixon Releases 'Jed, the Forgotten Egyptian Prince'

Told through the perspective of a teenage boy working on an archaeological expedition in Egypt, "Jed, the Forgotten Egyptian Prince" combines the emotional struggles that young adults face, such as self esteem and trust, with the excitement and adventure of time travel and ancient history.

Educator and author Jeanette Dixon, with more than 45 years of experience teaching, uses her expertise and an interest in ancient Egypt to create a story that not only helps address important and valuable lessons, but also works to spark a love for reading among today's young adults.

"As an experienced teacher who strongly nurtures success for all students, I was driven to write a book that would especially encourage boys to spend more time reading," Dixon said. "Reading is a past-time for which many kids lack motivation, and I hope this book triggers their desire to engage with literature."

In honor of her service to education, Jeanette Dixon was named a member of the Order of Australia (AM) and received an honorary doctorate from the University of Newcastle. She teaches in secondary schools and at university. She is married, a mother of three and a grandmother of ten, and lives on the Newcastle coast in Australia.
