Clinical psychologist Ian M. Evans draws from his own experiences and knowledge of the human psyche to craft an original story. His new novel, "Forgive Me My Trespasses" (published by Archway Publishing), focuses on the complex issues faced by psychologists, as well as the sexism and harassment in academia.

On a college campus in upstate New York, Dr. Dave Gordon, a professor of clinical psychology, introduces the themes of forgiveness and compassion to his graduate psychotherapy class. The varied effects these discussions have on his students raise complex interpersonal issues, including an allegation of sexual harassment. Dave is forced to readjust his own thinking and attitudes regarding sexism on college campuses.

"The overall theme is that well-meaning and fair-minded people in a position of influence or authority are not always aware of the impact that they have on less powerful individuals and that fairness, forgiveness and respect are necessary qualities to counter gender discrimination," Evans says.

Though issues such as sexism and political sex scandals appear in the book, "Forgive Me My Trespasses" is written in a light-hearted manner that Evans believes will entertain readers and make his book relatable. He hopes his book will teach readers about psychological principles and how to avoid sexism.
