SHREVEPORT, La.

Author Dianna Cook Thomas has over 23 years experience with violent crimes against women and children from her years working on the police force. She is doing a new marketing push for her book "I Can't See the Azaleas: True Crimes Against Women and Children" (published by AuthorHouse), written as a wake-up call to women and children to vigilantly protect themselves so their existence is never shattered by senseless violence.

Thomas shares the wealth of information she has from her most gruesome cases - domestic and child abuse cases as well as attempted suicide and stranger abductions - emphasizing that no one is immune from being victimized. She feels this book is great for all women, regardless of age, demographic, occupation or geographic location.

The stories in "I Can't See the Azaleas" are interspersed with quotes from Bible verses and pictures from various cases. Thomas directs readers to God's word for instruction in behaviors and thought processes that may help keep them from becoming victims, and includes pictures to show the terrible aftermath of the violent crimes she came up against in her time on the police force.

"Too many women and children are hurt or fatally wounded at the hands of another," Thomas says. "I've attended many funerals where women and children have died needlessly and can no longer smell or see the beauty of God's flowers."
