Earth's mightiest Saiyan Goku is set to return to U.S. and Canadian theaters with today's announcement that Funimation® Films has acquired the theatrical rights to the new Dragon Ball Super movie, entitled “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” This is the twentieth film in the Dragon Ball franchise and is based on the story, screenplay and character designs of original creator Akira Toriyama. As part of its distribution agreement with producer Toei Animation and the film's international distributor Twentieth Century Fox, Funimation also secured the home entertainment, video on demand and broadcast rights to the film. This latest agreement builds on the 22-year long partnership between Toei Animation and Funimation, which has contributed to the global success and pop culture status of the Dragon Ball franchise. “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” is anticipated to release in January 2019. The theatrical dates for the film's run will be announced later.

Comedy Central secured six nominations today in the 2017-2018 Primetime Emmy® Awards competition with three series receiving Outstanding Series/Program nominations: The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Drunk History and South Park. HBO received 108 Primetime Emmy® nominations for the upcoming 70th Primetime Emmy Awards®, which were announced today in Los Angeles.

Today, SHOWTIME was recognized with 21 Primetime Emmy Award nominations,including the network's first limited series nomination for PATRICK MELROSE, THE FOURTH ESTATE for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series and four actor nominations for PATRICK MELROSE's Benedict Cumberbatch,SHAMELESS' William H. GRAMMY® Award-winning, acclaimed alternative rock luminaries, The Smashing Pumpkins today kick off their Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour at Gila River Arena in Glendale, AZ. Produced by Live Nation, the tour is the band's first in nearly 20 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha. Longtime Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder, bassist Jack Bates, and keyboardist Katie Cole will also take part, as the band moves to a three guitar lineup to better emulate the signature tones and textures of their albums.
