Sci-Fi is alive at the Off Broadway Theatre! We are proud to present: "Doctor U." Travel through time and space with the Doctor and his companion, all the way to Utah… circa 2013 (and beyond)… for an adventure that spans nearly two hours. The Doctor's arch-nemesis has returned with an evil undertaking that could wreak havoc for any Time Lord. Plus, he's enlisted the help of intergalactic villains, nefarious aliens, and Benjamin Franklin. WORKING WOMEN, a program of work by female choreographers including Kate Weare, Camille A. Brown, Carolyn Dorfman, and Monica Bill Barnes, comes to The Joyce for a four performance run of new works and audience favorites from January 30 - February 3, 2013. Performances are on Wednesday at 7:30pm; Friday at 8pm; Sunday at 2pm and 7:30pm. The Friday performance will be followed by a Dance Chat. Tickets are $10-39 and are available at www.joyce.org.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that Jill Garland has been named the new Senior Director of Development. Garland comes to The Public Theater with 15 years of experience as the Director of Development of Playwrights Horizons and most recently worked as the Vice President of Development at Nyack Hospital for the past two years.

The show grossed $2,107,505.00 for the week ending Sunday, January 20 at the Paramount Theatre. THE BOOK OF MORMON first broke the record the week of January 13, previously set by WICKED in 2009.

Ravinia Festival today announced the festival debut of singer/songwriter Jewel on Sunday, June 16. Tickets to this event and all Ravinia summer events will be on sale to the public on April 25. A full list of 2013 summer events will be announced on March 7.

Eighty-Eight Entertainment presents the Chicago Premiere of Hershey Felder's riveting new production, AN AMERICAN STORY for ACTOR AND ORCHESTRA, which tells the story of Abraham Lincoln's last day, in a limited engagement at The Royal George Theatre, 1641 North Halsted, previewing Friday, March 8, 2013 and opening Sunday, March 10 at 3 p.m. The Chicago Premiere follows successful tryout productions in Los Angeles and San Diego.

Michael Ball is set to perform at Shanghai Grand Theater's February 14 Gala, the theatre has announced. He will be joined by Laura Michelle Kelly for his first performance in China.

Two further preview matinee performances (16 and 27 February 2013 at 2.30pm) have been scheduled for Stephen Daldry's production of Peter Morgan's The Audience.

Kids get to try out all sorts of grown-up occupations in a hands-on, fun-filled environment at 'FUNVILLE: What do you want to be?' Casting is announced for the UK tour of Michael Frayn's multi-award-winning backstage comedy Noises Off. Following its acclaimed run at The Old Vic and then at the Novello Theatre in the West End, Noises Off will tour theatres across the UK and Ireland from 27 March 2013.

The Elephant Theatre Company, David Fofi and Lindsay Allbaugh, Co-Artistic Directors, has announced it will present the 11th edition of LOVE BITES as a prelude to the Elephant's much anticipated 2013 season of plays, which will be announced shortly. LOVE BITES will have one preview on Thursday, February 7, and opening is set for Friday, February 8 at 8pm. Over the years, the LOVE BITES short play festival has become a local 'cult' favorite.

With the blessing and support of Lawson's children, Jeffrey & Mandy, The ReGroup has presented two staged readings and republished his 2 Group Theatre plays, Success Story and Gentlewoman. For 2013, they bring two of Lawson's plays to full production and are republishing all of his plays in hopes of restoring Lawson's name to the list of great American playwrights. A direct influence on Clifford Odets, Lawson was called the "hope of our theatre," by Group Theatre co-founder, Harold Clurman. The project- ReClaiming Names - focuses on righting the wrongs done over half a century ago. The HUAC hearings are part of American history, but the fact that Lawson's masterful plays are still out of print and unknown is a shame and shows the HUAC damage still has yet to be undone. Hopefully, through this exposure to his works, audiences will realize a missing piece of American and theatrical history. Lawson was a great influence not only on Odets, but Brecht and Miller.

Glass Mind Theatre's interactive Brainstorm festival returns! The production will morph into a one-night-only Pub Lab edition for Brainstorm 4: Of Myth and Legend. Local artists come together for an infusion of monologues, scenes and more generated from the ideas suggested by friends and supporters of the company.

Columbia Stages will present THE CORSAIR, inspired by "The Corsair" by Lord Byron and conceived and directed by Katie Naka (MFA Directing Candidate, 2013). THE CORSAIR will run February 13-16, 2013 at 3LD as part of the Columbia Stages season, comprised of MFA thesis plays directed by graduating Columbia University School of the Arts students.

A hilarious and provocative annual celebration of the best short plays in the country, Summer Shorts is known nationally as America's Short Play Festival, with a lineup of scripts penned by the country's best writers including City Theatre National Short Play Competition winners.

Due to a successful opening, the FST Improv troupe will continue to bring on the laughter with two additional performances on Friday, February 8 and Friday, February 15 at 8:30pm. The Improv troupe creates characters and sketches on the spot. Not even the performers know what to expect - until it happens.
