When two of the best musicians on the planet decide to combine their estimable talents to create a band without boundaries, the result is the WOLFF & CLARK EXPEDITION. Dizzy Gillespie famously said that jazz must have "one foot in the past and one in the future." With the Wolff & Clark Expedition, the music embraces the past, ventures into the future, but remains rooted in the improvisatory present. After several high profile performances in 2012, jazz legends Michael Wolff and Mike Clark, the Wolff & Clark Expedition, are preparing to release their self-titled debut album in February 2013. Performing with creative bassist Chip Jackson, the Expedition's initial outing aims for uncharted, compelling musical territories while still entertaining a wide audience of astute listeners.

Raleigh Little Theatre's production of Bus Stop by William Inge opens this Friday, February 1st. Patrons can enjoy free coffee provided by Raleigh-based coffee roaster, Larry's Beans, throughout the run, which goes through February 24th in the Gaddy-Goodwin Theatre. The show is a heart-warming comedy/drama about a group of strangers who spend a few hours together in a diner after a snowstorm halts their bus.

New Amsterdam--a non-profit artist-services organization and record label dedicated to supporting the public's engagement with new music by composers and performers whose work grows from the fertile ground between genres--is honored to announce it has teamed up with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in a unique residency that will focus on the artistic exploration into many forms of music in a symphonic format. Over the next two years, the ISO will periodically showcase the sophisticated, adventurous sound of highly trained composers and instrumentalists of the New Amsterdam community. Thirty years ago, THE CAPITOL STEPS began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the following years, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ('Don't quit your day job!'), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of 18 Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience.

Celebrating one of the most exciting musical partnerships in classical music, Grammy-winners Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic release their recording of Mahler's Symphony No. 9, available in the U.S. on Deutsche Grammophon on February 19th. The two have previously released recordings available exlusively in the digital format, making this new release the first to be offered as both a physical and digital recording for consumers. The album was recorded live at Los Angeles‘ Walt Disney Concert Hall during the 2012 Mahler project.
